What people thought of my Final designs

After completing all three of my final designs i asked for feedback on what people like and what i should change.

Rosie Redman - "i really like your double page spread jade the different colour writing emphasizing who is asking and answering makes it less confusing. The information about when his single i also liked because if i liked the artist i now know when i am able to purchase his work."
"On the contents page i really liked the pictures as it was from a live tour"
"The front page is very appealing so it makes me want to buy the magazine, it also makes i clear what genre its for looking at the picture. finally the colours are consistent throughout the magazine which i also like."

Double page spread

This is my double page spread. I used four of the photograph's i took. I edited them to make them black and white for a better effect. I like my idea of placing my images to the left in a line. And then placing my main image next to them in a larger size. For the title of the page i used black and red to stick with the theme, i done this throughout the page. The font i used for the interview is bold, where as the other writing is decorative. I chose to do this because the interview is the main part of the page. I chose to do an interview for my double page spread as i thought it would be more interesting and more appealing to read, as you get to know information on the person on the front cover.

Contents page

This is my contents page for my music magazine. Again i stuck to theme of black and red. I added the photograph's i took from the performance i went too. All the information that is in the magazine is clearly stated in the contents. The font i chose is decorative, also the black backgrond with white writing looking effective.

Front Cover

This is my front cover for my music magazine. I like my design, it is very eye catching and instantly recognisable as a music magazine. The main colours i used were black and red, these are both very strong bold colours so it attracts attention. I learnt from doing the preliminary task, that it is better to put the mast head in a box so it stands our better. I also like the style of writing, i think it works well with the genre of the magazine. My photograph takes up the whole page, i wanted it to be the most eye catching part of the magazine. I have added stars on the mast head in black and red to add to the black and red feel. I have also outlined the magazine in black and red. I added a barcode, price and date to the magazine aswell.

Photograph's

Here are some photograph's i took when i went too see La Roux at Sheperds Bush in London. I am going to use these images for my contents page, I like the colours in the images the blue and purple colours contrast well. I wanted to have images of a performance on my front page as a pose to a simple image of a model. These images create a real sense that this is a music magazine.

Photograph's

These are a few of the images i took for the magazine. I like the ideas for these photograph's the expression on his face looks effective. When it comes to the genre of my magazine the bands are normally quite unique so i wanted to do the same with my images. I told my model i did not want him to do a straight face or a natural smile, i made him do something that i considered different. I also edited my images to make them black and white, i prefer black and white to colour because it looks more effective with the genre of the magazine. I took my images with a camera i borrowed from school. I prefered to take close up images as i think it shows the model's face clearer which is what i wanted.

Indie/rock collage.

I have made a collage of images to do with the genre of music i want my music magazine to be. The colours are mainly dark. Different effects with the colours for example when the lights are mixed with a dark image look attractive however i do also think black and white looks effective. The collage is instantly recognisable as a rock/indie collage from the images of people at concerts and musicians singing and playing the guitar.
